Hey Family!

There are so many in our community that are being severely impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic. Some are facing unemployment, some are dealing with homelessness (or the very real possibility), and some are dealing with not having enough to eat; then there are small businesses that are struggling. We’re doing what we can to help, and one of the ways is to provide as much relevant and important information as we can.

SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS

Here’s some info from the City of Oakland called “Working Solutions”. This is The City’s Small Business Emergency Grant Program will provide working capital grants of $5,000 to small businesses in Oakland owned by very low-income individuals who have suffered financial loss due to the COVID-19 crisis. Grants can be used to cover costs such as rent and utilities, worker payroll, outstanding debts to vendors, and other operating costs. This emergency fund is making an initial total of $300,000 available to support low-income business owners impacted by COVID-19.

HELP WITH MISCELLANEOUS THINGS

‘The Oakland Reach Relief Fund” is a community based organization made of parents in OUSD whose families are underserved students here in Oakland. During this unprecedented time they’ve switched gears to raise funds and provide whatever kind of financial support to the community that they can, like if you’re short on rent, or utilities, or need gas money to get to work.

RENT MORATORIUMS

On March 27, 2020, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order putting a moratorium on the eviction of renters who are affected by the coronavirus and the downturn in the economy. However, nearly every county and city in the Bay Area has come up with their own ordinances. Here's a city-by-city look at these eviction moratoriums.

As always, we’re hoping you all are continuing to be well and safe!
